Browser syncing as it should be: secure, anonymous and free! Sync bookmarks across your browsers and devices, no sign up required.

xBrowserSync is a completely free and open source tool for syncing your bookmarks and browser data between your desktop browsers. xBrowserSync respects your privacy and gives you complete anonymity — no sign up is required and no personal data is ever collected. It is also completely secure; your data is encrypted client-side with military grade encryption, Even if someone intercepted your data, only you can decrypt it.

xBrowserSync enriches your bookmarks with the addition of descriptions and tags. An intuitive search interface lets you find bookmarks quickly and easily, or simply browse your bookmarks hierarchy by folders. And don’t ever worry about losing your data thanks to the included back up and restore functionality.

The web extension fully supports your native desktop browser bookmarking features; xBrowserSync will preserve your existing bookmarks hierarchy and any changes you make using the native bookmarking functionality are synced by xBrowserSync automatically. xBrowserSync will even add metadata to new bookmarks automatically!

With the xBrowserSync mobile app you can use xBrowserSync on the go with your Android device. Once you have created a new sync on your desktop browser using the web extension, simply scan your sync ID code into the app and enter your password to connect to your synced data. Add new bookmarks easily by sharing from your favourite apps (browsers, YouTube, Spotify and any other app that shares URLs), xBrowserSync will even populate the bookmark properties for you.

For ultimate privacy, configure your very own xBrowserSync cloud service on your Linux or Windows server to sync to. The code for the xBrowserSync cloud service is open source and is easy to set up for any relatively tech savvy individual.

It was a great alternative to the now defunct Xmarks, but it has begun to cause a lot of trouble syncing between Chrome and Firefox, at least on Linux; removing duplicate bookmarks with other extensions makes xBrowserSync overwrite the cleaned-up local bookmarks with the "dirty" online bookmarks.
This process becomes unavoidable, memory-consuming (to the point of OOM, crashing both browsers), and has rendered the extension unusable for me, at the risk of losing previous bookmarks.

It was well once, and may be again, but this bug hasn't caught enough attention, and it should.
Kudos for the dev who came up with the idea, it's worth developing, and it's almost there.

This extension isn't worth the time it took to write this review.

Sure you can find other ones that will take your data and all along with them. This is only one that is open source, no identifying info or anything. Just encryption key and sync chain

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS EXTENSION IF YOUR BOOKMARKS MEAN ANYTHING TO YOU. This extension utterly and completely destroyed my bookmarks in vivaldi. I DID NOT EVEN HAVE TIME to backup before it deleted everything and replaced it with a tiny fraction of what it used to be. I have been collecting tens of thousands of bookmarks over the past decade. WHERE ARE MY BOOKMARKS. If you do not help me restore them there will be some serious problems for you and your company. Now I have to waste my entire day trying to figure out how to clean up this utter mess. This extension author should not be allowed to create extensions dealing with people's valuable information. The author should be ashamed and should immediately remove this extension from the chrome store. This developer is a real liability for anyone who does anything valuable on their computer. I have reported this extension to Google requesting that it be immediately removed from the store. I will re-iterate again that I still expect you to help me restore my library, not just some empty "sorry you lost everything, must be your fault!" response, otherwise I will be personally "reaching out" to you on a regular basis until you do. I'll say this, if your extension manages to stay on the chrome store after my report (which I doubt), you should consider re-writing the entire thing so that it doesn't have any possibility of deleting people's information. How about that? That can't be too difficult, can it? If it is, then maybe you should leave this to another, more competent developer.

The sync worked fantastic and is very fast. Thanks for this extension. The only thing: the order of my bookmarks in the folders changed, so it took me a while to rearrange them but overall a great extension. Thank you for providing it!
