A standalone Markdown editor
Light Markdown Editor is a live editor for typing Markdown with a live preview in Google Chrome.
lightmd does not rely on a backend. It does not send the content to any external server.
lightmd is designed to be lightweight, not feature rich, while still providing some flexibility as a scratchpad.
Preview supports three styles, None (browser default rendering), Github (inspired), and a custom lightmd style (seen in screenshot).
lightmd allows for export to .md, HTML, and printing directly from the preview frame (must hit the Print button, not Ctrl+P).
The extension stores your content while you type in the browsers local storage. It has 4 "slots" which can be swapped between as you wish.
NB! Wiping browser local storage will wipe the contents stored in these editors!
lightmd uses a JavaScript library for converting Markdown to HTML (markdown-js), which has some limitations. It only supports basic Markdown and does not support inline HTML.
lightmd is open source and available on GitHub: https://github.com/jorgenys/lightmd

Hasn't had an update in years but still works fine, and does what it says. I know it's meant to be lightweight, but any chance of syncing the notes with Dropbox or Nextcloud? |

Looks great to me. I'll use it to keep random notes in my browser and to write an MD file on occasion. |

It's ok, but not support ''' syntax, which used to mark multi-line text as code. |
