Prey for Chrome OS

Meet Prey for Chromebooks, the security tool you need to stay in control of your remote assets and their data. Now available for Chrome OS laptops to be prepared if your devices get stolen, are breached or go missing.

Prey is the industry-leading device tracking & security solution with over 10 years of experience locating lost phones, laptops, and tablets. Available for Android, iOS, Windows, Ubuntu, macOS and now Chrome OS for Chromebook laptops. Harness the ability to manage all your devices under a single account from our online panel.

Over 7 million users trust us on all covered platforms.

CREATED FOR CHROMEBOOK DEVICES
This is a Chromebook specific application compatible with all native Chrome OS laptops. Make sure you get the best user experience: we recommend you install our app through your Google Admin Console. This will allow you to deploy Prey remotely and set it up for multiple users on the same device (and also multiple users across multiple devices). If the app is not installed from Google Admin, when you switch users in your device, the client will be uninstalled.

AVAILABLE FEATURES
Let’s say you already have a Prey account (that’s right, you will need one!). Once you’ve installed the app on your Chromebook laptops you’ll be ready to enjoy the following set of features:

►Create and manage geofences with Control Zones
►Locate devices on demand
►Remotely trigger Alerts and Alarms in your devices
►Lock the device’s browser
►Receive missing reports (screenshots, location, Chrome information)

I agree with Regina Woodard's review. The Prey for Chromebook requires an Enterprise/Nonprofit/Education plan upgrade to use, which defeats the purpose. And before you ask, it is NOT included as part of the 3 devices included in the free plan, which makes no sense. If a PC and an Android phone count as part of the free plan, a Chromebook should too.

I've been using Prey for years and thankfully, I've never had to use it. However, after recently doing a powerwash on my Chromebook, I discovered that 1. I can no longer use the Android app and 2. I can only use the Chrome extension if I pay.

Defeats the purpose of protecting my device if I have to pay for the same service I get on the free plan. If the home plan covered more than 3 devices (like say 5, $1 for each), then it would be a no brainer. But now, I'm going to have to let my Chromebook be at risk cause you all wanted more money.
