it seems there is no difference between tif and tiff files. well, this thing called extention will not recognize tif files from a mile away.

I tried to open a file from my computer and it would not open it.

This extension, although good for being able to view both TIFF images and doesn't seem like a virus, the fact that it cannot increase the scale(zoom in) on a TIFF file gives this extension a 3/5.

tl;dr - It reads the .tif files I tried. Great for a "quick-view" if you're trying to identify a particular tif which has had some human-unfriendly, 8-bit naming convention assigned. Don't expect anything more and you won't be disappointed. Rated "just okay"
For serious viewing with editing/conversion capabilities, I'd recommend looking for a better browser-based editor or, in the case of ChromeOS, flick over to Linux and install GIMP via Flatpack, if available.

Unlike Leo discovered in his less-than-detailed review, this does open .tif files but to qualify this, it was using a current Chromebook.

While there's a confusing disclaimer that it won't open from "you Google drive" even though there's an option to do so, I instead used the "From you Pc" selection which opens the ChromeOS File explorer and opened a tif I had stored one my Google drive that way.

So it opens the tif, in this case, a scan of railway locomotive drawing from the 1950's, but as mentioned in nl hn's review, there isn't the ability to fully utilise whatever degree of zoom that's possible with a hi-res scan, being limited to the zoom offered by the browser itself.
