I downloaded this Extension because, as of Google Chrome 55 (I guess), my I've been having problems reading my offline "WYSIWYG-compatible" HTML files. (They're producing garbage characters and the like.) However... this Extension doesn't do anything for files you're trying to view which are on your hard drive or network. It ONLY works on live websites... most likely for the same reasons that the "Set Character Encoding" Extension doesn't work with offline files.

I also can't tell if it's actually doing anything on live websites since most sites I go to have a default encoding meta tag... but benefit of the doubt, it probably is.

So, yeah. Useless to me, but probably helpful for everyone else.

Δεν δουλεύει. Άχρηστο. Βρήκα άλλη επέκταση που δουλεύει μια χαρά με δεξί κλικ - κωδικοποίηση.

I like the function that can specify changing web pages. Please add GB18030. I need this encoding. Thank you.
