A lightweight tool for copying text from sites like Wikipedia without the bracketed notes.
Whenever you copy text from Wikipedia and paste it somewhere else, you end up with something like this:
Multiple researchers[94][95][96][97][98] all reported instances of coyotes killing bobcats, whereas bobcats killing coyotes is more rare.[93]
These references are an important way to ensure credibility in Wikipedia articles, but maybe you just want to make a note to self, or to share a fun fact with a friend. If you're not worried about citing your sources, the references may be unnecessary clutter - especially in plain text, where they're bigger and can't act as hyperlinks. Maybe you'd rather have something like this:
Multiple researchers all reported instances of coyotes killing bobcats, whereas bobcats killing coyotes is more rare.
That's where this extension comes in. There are two ways to use it:
* Select text, right-click, and choose "Copy without notes".
* Select text and use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+X.
That's it! You can still perform regular copying as you usually would. WikiCopy can be used on any site, but it's fine-tuned for Wikipedia.
If the keyboard shortcut doesn't work for you, it may be because Ctrl+X is already taken by something else. There's an easy fix:
1) Navigate to chrome://extensions in your address bar.
2) Scroll down if necessary, and click "Keyboard Shortcuts" in the bottom-right.
3) Choose any key combination you like!

Exactly what I was after, works well when pasting from Wikipedia into Roam Research, keeping the paragraphs as separate bullet points. Thank you!!! |

This is what I'm looking for, but it's unusable because it combines paragraphs into one long paragraph. |
