Absolutely a must for me. As a community manager I have to search and read many posts and articles (to make content curation as a part of my job), and this extension helps me a lot to decide wether to read those texts in the moment or save the link for later (in apps like Pocket). A productivity power up combo!!
I experienced some issues in the past involving incompatibilities with YouTube, but after reporting to the developer he fixed those problems and wrote back to me. I'm so grateful for this follow-up since I love this extension!

Helpful and works, but very buggy. Creates an impassable overlay on some sites like Youtube, and it doesn't retain changed settings between sessions.

I will vote higher once that the following bug is being solved.

Extension works good, and is definitely useful; but the time is being added as an HTML element INSIDE the page, instead that layered over!

This breaks on YouTube (as already mentioned in another comment).

Also it breaks on GitHub, when requesting the raw version of a file from any repository.
This should return just an exact copy of the unaltered file's source code; but ReadingTime will add some markup at the beginning of the page, breaking the possibility to copy the code and paste it somewhere else (a text editor for example).

When pasting the copied content, in the first line there is the value of the ReadingTime counter (that in the case of the GitHub page is not even visible!).

I guess (but I've never developed an extension before) a background-page should be used, in order to handle the floating timer.

Great function.
But I can't browse on Youtube properly with the extension turned on...

Incredibly simple idea and unbelievably useful. After testing my actual reading speed, I adjusted the widget settings for my own needs and now I have a remarkably accurate estimate for any article I open. With this information, I know whether I should save to Pocket for a later read or indulge immediately. Fantastic! And saves me the constant struggle of starting an article when I won't have time to finish it, only to be lost and waste time finding my groove when (if!) I am able to return to it.
