I think it should give us a choise for "not to read quotation mark and reference numbers". Because if there are a lot quotation mark or reference numbers, the sentence is broken.

It didn't work while I had it added to chrome, and then after I removed it, it was working and I couldn't turn it off.

This extension works fine, but you have to restart Chrome to use it, once it is installed. Then switch it on, and click somewhere in the page. The reader will either read everything or just the paragraph that you select. The text that is to be read is underlined.
I would like to see this feature added - read everything below the point at which you click. Also, it would be nice to see some options list added that would allow you to add html5 tags that you don't want read, like lists or code items etc.
If the code is publicly accessibly, ie open source, at github, then I would be happy to contribute.
